Wave and Range Society Mandates
- To Promote Health Through Outdoor Activity
We support physical and mental well-being by encouraging regular, self-powered movement in nature—walking, paddling, hiking, biking, and more.
- To Foster a Strong, Connected Community
We create opportunities for people of all backgrounds to come together, move together, and build relationships in the outdoors, with a focus on inclusivity, fun, and mutual respect.
- To Encourage Lifelong Learning and Skills Development
Through guided outings, workshops, mentorship, and leadership pathways, we aim to empower individuals with the confidence, knowledge, and ability to explore nature safely and responsibly.
- To Inspire Environmental Awareness and Stewardship
We model care for our local forests, waters, and wildlife. We practice and teach low-impact travel, and collaborate with others to preserve and respect the lands we traverse.
- To Provide Access for Adults of All Ages
Due to our insurance limitations, our programs are currently open to individuals aged 16 and over. We welcome families and caregivers to explore participation together where appropriate.
- To Walk in Respectful Relationship with Indigenous Peoples
We acknowledge that all Wave and Range activities take place on the unceded territories of Indigenous peoples. We seek to listen, learn, and act in ways that honour First Nations leadership, land stewardship, and cultural continuity.
- To Embrace Challenge and Build Resilience
We believe that effort, discomfort, and facing the elements are part of what makes outdoor experiences meaningful. We welcome the growth that comes from struggle, and we cultivate courage, adaptability, and determination in ourselves and each other.
- To Support Local Resilience and Regeneration
We collaborate with community organizations, Indigenous leadership, and local businesses to strengthen our island’s social and ecological fabric through outdoor activity and collective care.
- To Keep Adventure Approachable and Fun
We believe movement outdoors should be joyful, not intimidating. Our culture welcomes all fitness levels and personalities—with no pressure to perform or compete.
